Nike Lunar Shield Series

Tired of your feet getting soaked and cold during the long winter months? Nike has added a new line of running shoes to their extremely popular Lunar series that will help to make your winter running much more enjoyable! The all new Nike Lunar-Shield series offers runners a shoe that offers the same comfortable “Lunarlon” cushioning and support as the original lunar series, but adds a highly water resistant, reflective and breathable upper to those models.

The “shield” version offers a few more features that make this series perfect for the damp, cold weather that winter often throws our way.  First, the tightly woven fibers in the upper repel water very effectively.  Nike was so concerned with water-resistance that they even used a material in the tongue that does not absorb liquids! The upper is also constructed with a highly reflective material that will help keep you safe during the shorter winter days.  Last but not least, the tightly woven fibers in the upper hold in more heat and aid in keeping your feet warm all throughout the run.

While Nike added features to make this the perfect winter running shoe, they have still all of the main components that have helped to make the Lunar series Nike’s best selling series of shoes in years.  The “Dynamic Support” memory foam support system helps to personalize the athletes’ ride by adapting to their very own foot strike and arch shape.  The mid-foot strap helps to support the foot better and improve the fit through the mid-foot.  Finally, the Lunarlon cushioning system helps to provide a lightweight and responsive ride for the wearer.

Here at Sneaker Factory we carry the Shield series in two models: The Lunar Glide 3 Shield offers arch support that is ideal for mild over-pronation and the Lunar Fly Shield is a neutral, more flexible shoe made for runners with high, rigid arches who simply need great cushioning.  Either way, your feet will stay comfortable, and you’ll be visible to motorists as you train in the winter darkness.
